We've been in drought conditions for years and our dead dry grass yard was not only ugly, it presented a fire hazard from thoughtless motorists throwing out cigarettes. I didn't want to have a yard full of lifeless rocks and this book let me realize that we could have a beautiful yard full of plants. We combined the ideas from this book with information about drought-resistant plants from the book Dryland Gardening: Plants that Survive and Thrive in Tough Conditions. We now have the prettiest yard in the neighborhood and we aren't wasting water on grass.
