How To Draw A Worm Wheel

Posted on by  admin

PIC Design carries an impressive line of worm gears and worm wheels. We offer many standard sizes and design expertise to manufacture custom worm gear sets to print. PIC’s worm gears (or worm wheels) are single-enveloping, i.e. The outside diameter of the worm gear wraps partially around the mating worm. Dec 15, 2016  in this tutorial video i will sketch Worm gear Animation in Solidworks with the help of sketch, feature & motion tools.I hope you like it. Please subscribe our channel for more videos and projects. Mar 03, 2012  I made the part but the worm doesn't have all dimensions due to not knowing how to use them all in the sketch as much as I have tried to learn about gears. Any help would be really appreciated! My email is haponte3208@hotmail.com, so anything you can write me at this email.

Insert 1 gear

How To Draw A Worm Wheel
  1. On the ribbon, click Design tab Power Transmission panel Worm Gear.
  2. In the generator, Design tab:
    • Insert the values to the Common area.
    • In the Worm gear area, select Component from the list.
    • In the Worm gear area, select No Model from the list.
  3. Click OK.
Note: Curve used in a tooth shape is simplified.

On the Calculation tab, you can perform a calculations and a strength check. The calculation is performed when you click Calculate.

Insert 2 gears

Use the Worm Gear Generator to insert a maximum of 2 gears at the same time.

How To Draw A Worm Wheel Easy

  1. On the ribbon, click Design tab Power Transmission panel Worm Gear.
  2. On the generator, Design tab:
    • Enter the values to the Common section.
    • In the Worm gear section, select Component from the list.
    • In the Worm gear section, select Component from the list.
    • We recommend that you select both cylindrical faces because gears are automatically put together.
  3. Click OK.

You can switch to the Calculation tab to perform a calculation and strength check. The calculation is performed when you click Calculate.

Insert a calculation

  1. On the ribbon, click Design tab Power Transmission panel Worm Gear.
  2. In the Design tab:
    • Enter the values to the Common section.
    • In the Worm gear section, select No Model from the list.

Calculate worm gears

  1. On the ribbon, click Design tab Power Transmission panel Worm Gear.
  2. On the generator, Design tab, select the type of gears you want to insert (component, no model), and specify number of gears.
Note: Click More in the right lower corner of the Design tab to open the More Options area, where you can select other options for your calculation.
  3. On the Calculation tab, enter values to perform the strength check.
  4. Click Factors to display a dialog box where you can change factors for selected Method of Strength Calculation.
  5. Click Accuracy to display a dialog box where you can change the accuracy settings.
  6. Click Calculate.
  7. The calculation results are displayed in the Results area. The inputs that fail the calculation are displayed in red (their value does not correspond with other inserted values or calculation criteria). Reports of the calculation are displayed in the Summary of Messages area which is displayed after clicking the chevron in the right lower part of the Calculation tab.
  8. Click Results to display the HTML report with calculated values.
  9. Click OK.

Edit worm gears

  1. Open the Autodesk Inventor assembly with the Design Accelerator worm gear already inserted.
  2. Right-click and select Edit Using Design Accelerator.
  3. Edit the worm gear. You can change the number of gears, type of gear (component, no model) or recalculate values.
  4. Click OK.
Worm
Hello i am having trouble figuring out the proper profile to use for the worm and the gear. I need to model it in solidworks and everything i am finding online is for spur gears. I need to get the worm and gear to mesh correctly so i can do some finite element analysis on it. I have calculated my pitch diameters for both and i have what i believe to be the correct addendum and dedendum dimensions for my worm gear.
Can someone point me in the right direction? how does one get the proper involute for their teeth?
