Blackwidow Chroma Lighting Profiles
Razer BlackWidow Chroma v2
When you are looking to replace your old keyboard you will find many people will recommend the BlackWidow series of keyboards from Razer. One of the latest editions to the series is the Razer BlackWidow Chroma v2 hence why we have chosen this keyboard to review first or should I say keyboards? We will get to that a little later.
RGB Lighting
Customisation has no limit with the new Synapse 3.0 software paired with this keyboard as every single key can be different. You can go to the Razer Chroma Workshop to find someone else's creations or you can customise the lighting just as easily yourself. I have seen many different configurations, Most noteworthy there are waving flags, A PacMan design or even SMART configurations which link to the game you play. There is a Lighting profile that interacts with CS:GO and different sections of the keyboard light up and change colour depending on how much HP, Ammo or Armour you have. Furthermore, it also shows you your current kill-streak. This is the future.
Dynamic Reactive Lighting with Razer Chroma SDK. Razer 101: Advanced Chroma Configurator. Razer Chroma SDK v4.8: Audio Visualizer. Razer Chroma SDK v4.8: Snaaaaaake! Razer 101: Chroma Lighting Effects. (It should work on TE Blackwidow Chroma as well, but I don't have one so I can't. That is because you have a custom lighting profile enabled.
The removable palm rest that comes included
The palm rest is squishy but still has the support you need to stay comfortable when typing for long periods of time. Like when pulling those all-nighters or when doing a streaming marathon.
Furthermore, it is also easily removable due to the magnetic connection to the keyboard. Which makes it look 10x better in my opinion, however, I prefer to keep it on. You have a choice between looks or comfort. Visuals vs Practibility.
Razer, a world leader in connected devices and software for gamers, today announced the all-new Chroma feature that allows full-spectrum, color-customizable lighting for enabled Razer devices.
Macro Customisation
Through the Synapse 3.0 Software, You can customise any key to be any other key, Run a macro or run a certain command. This is all decided by you. There are also 5 extra M keys on the left side of the board which serve no purpose until they are programmed. You can map them to open certain Games or Programs or to Run certain commands.
There are different versions?
If you decide to buy a Razer BlackWidow Chroma v2 keyboard you will suddenly realise that there are different options for key switches to choose from. Everybody has different preferences in this regard, however, I will attempt to describe the differences.
The Green Switch
First of all, we shall look at the Razer green switch the most popular and are very similar to the cherry blue switches, These switches have been designed to feel clicky and to have a tactile feeling. The actuation force needed is 50g and You will feel and hear every keypress at 1.9mm, These keys are great for first-person shooters and for the people who enjoy having the tactile bump.
The Yellow Switch
Another option to have the yellow switches which are similar to cherry brown switches. Silent when pressed and have a more linear feel when you press them down. However, The force needed for it to register as a keypress is 45g (a little less than the green). These are the quietest switches of the three and have the fastest actuation point from Razer at only 1.2mm. Best for those fast-paced games where you will need to rapid-fire keypresses.
The Orange Switch
Finally, we come to the orange switches, these switches are a balance of the two others, Some may say the best of both worlds. They are silent but you will still feel that tactile bump. The actuation point is the same as the green switches however the actuation force is the same as the yellow.
Which switch?
If you are worried about waking anyone up nearby then I suggest you go for one of the silent versions as the clicky switches tend to be quite loud. There will be many comparison videos on youtube, however, be aware that they won't be true to life as you are not actually there.
Shutdown timer windows 10. If you still need help deciding on switches then I would suggest you find a switch tester. (They used to be available however I can't find them anymore.) Otherwise, I would suggest going into a local store and trying them out before you buy however I understand that may be difficult as in the UK they usually only stock the one version.
Tournament versions
If you need a more compact version of the keyboard, You could consider getting one of the tournament versions. They are exactly the same apart from the fact that they are missing the numpad which makes them a little more portable if you need to stuff them in your bag.

Conclusion, Should you buy the Razer BlackWidow Chroma v2?
The only downfall I have found with the keyboard is actually to do with the software. If you own an older Razer product that you connect through with Synapse 2.0 (now known as Synapse Legacy). You cant use that product with the new version of Synapse which means you will need to have both Synapse Legacy as well as Synapse 3.0 running at the same time. This may not be an issue if you have a fast PC or you're not stuck with an older product however it's worth noting as the RGB customisability won't work without the software. Especially if you want the more fancy configurations. Apart from that this keyboard is a fantastic purchase and you won't be disappointed. I know because this is actually the keyboard I use on a daily basis.
